If property owners have not received a property tax bill, the Revenue Commissioner recommends that each owner review their tax payments to ensure that taxes have been, the web site www.mobilecopropertytax.com is a good tool to check on payments.  Property in which the 2008 property taxes have not been paid, approximately 5000 accounts, will be auctioned off on Thursday, May 28, 2009 starting at 10:00 in the Mobile County Revenue Commissioner’s Office at 3925 Michael Blvd, Suite G.

State law requires that the property be auctioned to the highest bidder, which result in individuals or investment companies obtaining tax liens on the property.  Property owners will have to pay the back taxes plus 12% annual interest (1% per month) in order to clear this lien.

In order to avoid this tax lien, property taxes must be paid by the morning of May 28, 2009 10:00 a.m.  Payment can be made at any of the Revenue Commissioner’s Offices; Main Office 3925 Michael Blvd, Downtown office, Theodore office or Eight Mile office by cash, credit card or money order NO CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  In addition, payments can be made on the web site (www.mobilecopropertytax.com) until Sunday, May 24 at 12:00 a.m.
